cssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica football team traveled to Tennessee for its season opener this afternoon, taking on the Tigers from Sewanee. The Saints had a difficult time this afternoon getting any sort of momentum as the Tigers were able to take a commanding victory over the Saints this afternoon by a score of 50-0.Â

How it HappenedÂ
The Tigers were able to score early in the first quarter, scoring on just its second drive, making the score 7-0 early. Sewanee scored on its next drive and expanded its lead to 14-0. On the next Sewanee drive,
Antonio Bugni (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS) came down with a great jump ball interception, and stopped momentum of a Tigers drive that seemed bound for the endzone.Â

The Tigers expanded its lead into the second quarter. After a Tigers touchdown,
Luke Liska (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran Academy) made a great play, blocking a Tigers PAT attempt and made the score 27-0 in favor of the Tigers.Â

The Tigers took a 34-0 lead into halftime and continued its dominant afternoon, scoring 16 more points in the second half and capturing a victory over CSS today by a score of 50-0.Â

The Saints (0-1) will be back in action in two Saturdays as they will travel to St. Bonifacius where they will take on the Polars from Crown College. Kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
