DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica football team fell to Concordia-Moorhead 63-3 Saturday afternoon at Public Schools Stadium. The Saints tied the game late in the first quarter before the Cobbers pulled away with 33 second-quarter points.
After Concordia opened the scoring with a field goal, St. Scholastica answered with a 10-play, 67-yard drive. Eddie Dossantos (Rockford, MN/Providence Academy) completed three passes to Nathan Behrens (Watertown, MN/Watertown-Mayer HS) for 47 yards and connected with Jeremiah Jackson (Minneapolis, MN/Minneapolis North High School) for a 16-yard gain to move the Saints inside the Cobbers' five-yard line. Jack Schroeder (Fall Creek, WI/Regis High School) capped the possession with a 14-yard field goal, tying the score at 3-3 with 3:39 remaining in the opening quarter.
Concordia regained the lead early in the second quarter on a seven-yard touchdown pass from Nick Walter to Gannon Limke. The Cobbers converted interceptions on the Saints' next two possessions into touchdowns and added two more scores to take a 36-3 halftime lead. Samuel Haug (Brooklyn Park, MN/Concordia Academy) intercepted a pass inside the Saints' 15-yard line in the final minute of the half to halt another Concordia drive.
The Cobbers added four touchdowns in the third quarter to complete the scoring. Walter finished with 227 passing yards and five touchdown passes, while adding 83 rushing yards and two scores. Concordia totaled 393 yards of offense to St. Scholastica's 151.
Jeremiah Jackson (Minneapolis, MN/Minneapolis North High School) led the Saints with six receptions for 51 yards, while Behrens caught three passes for 47 yards. Elijah Adzimahe (Oakdale, MN/North St. Paul HS) completed seven of eight passes for 56 yards, and Dossantos added 63 passing yards. Jevon Williams (Willmar, MN/Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (ACGC)) paced the rushing attack with 34 yards on four carries. Stephan Jackson (Minneapolis, MN/Minneapolis North HS) contributed 21 rushing yards and 88 yards on three kickoff returns, including a 40-yard return.
Defensively, Maximilian Neaves (Waseca, MN/Waseca HS) and Connor Plumley (Olivia, MN/Bold HS) each recorded seven tackles, followed by Isaac Johnson (St. Paul, MN/St. Paul Highland Park HS) with six and Declan Estrin (Maplewood, MN/Tartan HS) with five. Behrens registered four tackles for loss totaling 12 yards, while Haug finished with three tackles and an interception.
St. Scholastica (0-4, 0-3 MIAC) travels to Northfield to face Carleton on Saturday, October 10. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
