Stevens Point, Wis. (csssaints.com) – On Saturday, St. Scholastica's volleyball team lost against St. Norbert College 3-2 in their final game of the Pointer Invitational tournament.

CSS 2, St. Norbert 3

St. Scholastica started the match by quickly getting a 5-1 lead in the first set. Two of the five points were from kills by Lindsey Baribou and Bailee Hess (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown HS). The Saints had another good run throughout the first match when they scored seven points in a row giving them a 18-11 lead. Four of the seven points were from service sces by Katie Brostrom (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS). The first set finished with a kill by Baribou giving CSS the 25-19 win.

The second set began with a kill by Hess giving the Saints a good start. However, the second set was more neck and neck than the first one was. The score was tied up at 17-17 however, CSS was able to hold St. Norbert to only one more point scored before a kill by Ashley Larson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) finished off the set. The final for set two was 25-18 in favor of the Saints.

The third set was looking promising as St. Scholastica took an 8-4 lead and had been maintaining their lead for the majority of the set. However, a five point run by St. Norbert giving them the 17-16 lead gave them the momentum they needed to take the third set from the Saints. CSS ended on the losing side of the third set 25-20.

Similar to the third set St. Scholastica took the lead in the fourth set at 10-6 but St. Norbert came back with another run and took the lead 11-10. Late in the third set the score had tied up 23-23. Despite the very close set St. Norbert ended up taking the win 27-25.  The final set was close between both teams. Throughout the entirety of the set the score had remained within just a few points. Unfortunately though St. Scholastica couldn't end on the winning side and took a 16-14 loss giving St. Norbert the comeback match win.

Baribou led the Saints with 18 kills and Caitlin Schneeweis (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Mary)) and Hess contributed with nine. Grace Myhre (Aberdeen, S.D./Aberdeen Central HS) had 24 assists throughout the match, and Alcia Draper (Williams, Minn./Lake of the Woods HS) recorded 22 digs for CSS.
