Duluth, Minn. (csssaints.com) – On Friday evening, St. Scholastica's volleyball team shutout Saint Marys University 3-0.

The Saints were off to a good start right away in the first set as their first point was a kill by Alana Mayry (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS). There was a point though when St. Marys did have a 8-5 lead over CSS but didn't last long as St. Scholastica quickly tied up the score and followed with a six point run giving them the 16-12 lead. Two of the three final points in the first set were kills by Caitlin Schneeweis (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Mary)).

Despite the very solid lead for CSS, St. Marys was able to come back and make this set a little interesting. The score remained within a point or two as it neared the end. Both CSS and SMU went back and forth on scoring until the Saints ended on top with a kill by Jessica Remer (Grand Forks, N.D./Sacred Heart HS) to give St. Scholastica the 27-25 win.

The Saints were off to another good start in the third set as their first point was a kill by Lindsey Baribou. CSS would go on to score four more points giving them a 5-0 lead before St. Marys would put up their first point of the set on the board. St. Scholastica continued to have a strong lead over St. Marys throughout the entirety of the third set and had gained a 10 point lead multiple times The set was finished off with another kill by Remer giving CSS the 25-15.

Remer led the Saints with 14 kills, Baribou contributed with 10, and Mayry had seven kills for the Saints. Brostrom had 28 assists throughout the match, and Alcia Draper (Williams, Minn./Lake of the Woods HS) recorded 17 digs for CSS.
