Northfield, Minn. (csssaints.com) – On Wednesday, St. Scholastica's volleyball had their first conference loss against St. Olaf College. The match ended 3-1 in favor of St. Olaf.

CSS 1, St. Olaf 3

The Saints had a rough start to the match as they quickly fell behind 9-3 to St. Olaf in the first set. They started to make their comeback further into the set but by that point it was too late and CSS ended up taking the 25-18 loss.

Although the second set didn't start with the Saints scoring first, a kill by Jessica Remer (Grand Forks, N.D./Sacred Heart HS) tying the score 1-1 allowed CSS to bounce back right away. St. Scholastica was hanging in there with St. Olaf until the middle of the set as they remained within just a few points of St. Olaf. Eventually the Oles. broke it open and were able to keep the Saints from progressing much further and in the end gave CSS the 25-19 loss in the second set.

After losing the first two sets, the Saints looked to start the third set fresh. The set opened up with a kill by Lindsey Baribeau (Biwabik, Minn./Mesabi East HS). Throughout the beginning of the set the Saints were maintaining a lead over the Oles. However, as the set progressed St. Olaf started making a comeback and had tied up the score with CSS more than once and even managed to take the lead late in the set. Despite that, a kill by Schneeweis tied up the score at 23-23. A kill by Alana Mayry (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) gave the Saints the lead before ultimately taking the win in set three.

Despite the positive momentum St. Scholastica had gained in the third set, but it did not transfer into the fourth set. The Saints quickly started to fall to St. Olaf and the Oles capitalized on it and rapidly gave CSS a 25-13 loss ending the match.

Caitlin Schneeweis (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Mary)) led the Saints in kills with 10, Remer also contributed with nine kills. Katie Brostrom (Prior Lake, Minn./Prior Lake HS) had 20 assists throughout the match, and Alcia Draper (Williams, Minn./Lake of the Woods HS) recorded 25 digs for CSS.
