DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team won its second consecutive Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) dual match on Saturday, cruising to an 8-1 win over Concordia College-Moorhead at the Duluth Indoor Sports Center.
Doubles
For the second straight match, the Saints swept all three doubles matches.
The No. 1 team of
Julia Maier (Hamburg, Germany/Heidberg Gymnasium) and
Madilyn Jankila (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) won by an 8-4 margin for the team's seventh victory of the season.
The No. 2 team of
Martina Garcia (Cuenca, Ecuador/Catalinas HS (Eastern Florida State College)) and
Anna Ritchie (Becker, Minn./Becker HS) won 8-6. That was also the same winning margin for the No. 3 team of
Mishell Benitez (Ambato, Ecuador/Colegio Tecnico Particular a Distancia José Martí) and
Julia Ellefson (Rochester, Minn./John Marshall HS).
Singles
Maier won at the No. 1 spot, dropping only one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win. For Maier, that was her third straight win.
Jankila did not drop a single game, blanking her opponent at the No. 2 spot by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
Garcia won her seventh straight match at the No. 3 spot by scores of 6-3, 6-3.
Benitez was victorious at the No. 4 position by scores of 6-4, 6-1.
Ritchie was the final winner on the day at the No. 5 spot by scores of 6-1, 6-4.
