csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team fell by a 5-4 margin to St. Olaf College on Sunday at the Virginia Indoor Tennis and Pickleball Club.
Doubles
The No. 1 team of
Julia Maier (Hamburg, Germany/Heidberg Gymnasium) and
Martina Garcia (Cuenca, Ecuador/Catalinas HS (Eastern Florida State College)) were the lone winners in doubles action, winning 8-4. The Oles (6-2, 4-1 MIAC) were able to pull out a victory by tiebreaker at the No. 2 spot.
Singles
Garcia won at the No. 2 singles spot by scores of 6-3, 7-5.
Mishell Benitez (Ambato, Ecuador/Colegio Tecnico Particular a Distancia José Martí) rallied from a set down at the No. 3 spot to win in a super-breaker 4-6, 6-4, (10-6).
Cursta Dimberio (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) was the final Saint to win at the No. 6 spot by scores of 6-4, 6-3.
