csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team began its spring break trip on Monday with a 6-3 loss to St. Lawrence University (N.Y.) at the USTA National Campus.
Doubles
The No. 1 team of
Julia Maier (Hamburg, Germany/Heidberg Gymnasium) and
Madilyn Jankila (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) won their match by an 8-3 margin, but they were the lone doubles team to come away with a victory.
Singles
In singles action,
Martina Garcia (Cuenca, Ecuador/Catalinas HS (Eastern Florida State College)) won at the No. 3 spot by scores of 6-4, 6-2.
The other Saint to win was another first-year player as
Eva Kangas (Grand Rapids, Minn./Minnesota Virtual Academy – Grand Rapids HS) was victorious at the No. 6 spot by scores of 6-0, 6-2.
Jankila dropped a close decision at the No. 2 spot by scores of 7-5, 4-6, (10-5).
