DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) - The St. Scholastica men's basketball team hosted St. Olaf College Wednesday night in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) matchup and regular season finale at the Reif Gymnasium. The Saints outscored the Oles by one in the first half, but the Oles shot 64% from the field in the second half and outscored CSS 57-39 and spoiled the regular season finale by a score of 91-74.

How it Happened
The Saints and Oles (15-10, 11-9 MIAC) traded baskets early, with CSS getting early help from Quinn Fischer (Esko, Minn./Esko HS), Noah Winesett (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS), and Yohanes Addiss Gebeyehu (Shoreview, Minn./Roseville HS). St. Olaf fought back as both teams traded baskets and a layup by Nick Carlson (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS) tied the game at 17. The Oles then went on a 7-0 run which gave them a seven point lead with seven minutes left in the first half. Down seven with four minutes to go in the half, the Saints went to work, leading the late push by a three-pointer and layup by Carlson, which was followed by three free throws by Isiah Hendrickson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS). Carlson scored a late basket with 20 seconds to play in the half, as the Saints took a 35-34 lead into halftime.

The Saints quickly extended their lead early into the second half, coming off a three-pointer by Noah Winesett (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and a pair of jumpers by Fischer. The Oles took the lead five minutes into the second half and proceeded to go on a 17-8 run, which extended their lead to 15. While the Saints shot 48 percent for the half, St. Olaf shot 64 percent, including 58 percent from the three-point line. The Oles simply shot the lights out in the second half, as CSS had no match for its hot hand, as St. Olaf took tonight's matchup, 91-74.
