SAINT PETER, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team dropped a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) road game Saturday afternoon to Gustavus Adolphus College 68-45.

How It Happened
St. Scholastica started the game with a made jumper by Liz Frase (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS (Concordia-Moorhead)), but quickly counteracted with a layup by Gustavus (17-4, 15-3 MIAC). This was followed up with a successful three pointer by Eve Turner (Side Lake, Minn./Hibbing HS), giving the Saints a 5-2 lead for the first half of the first quarter. Following that lead the Gusties came back and gained a 11-5 lead before CSS was able to put any more points up on the board. The first quarter ended with the Saints trailing 17-11.

In the second quarter the Saints were able to put up 10 points but the Gusties put up 16. Six of the 11 points for CSS was made by Emma Schmidt (Alexandria, Minn./Alexandria HS). With 3:20 left in the first half Miranda Broberg (Milaca, Minn./Milaca HS (UW-Superior)) made two free throws, the final points scored for St. Scholastica in the first half.

Coming into the second half, the score was 33-21 with the Gusties in the lead. Within the first five minutes of the third quarter the Saints started to close the gap. St. Scholastica put up eight points before Gustavus was able to put any points on the board for the second half.

Following that, however, the Saints hit a dry patch and were unable to put anything else up on the board themselves. In the final quarter of the game, CSS put up 12 points, However, it was not enough for them to be able to bring home the win, and the Saints ended up losing 68-45.
