DULUTH, Minn.
(csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team hosted the Cardinals from Saint Mary's College this afternoon at Saints Field. The Saints were able to find the back of the net five times, as five different players were able to record a goal, and defeated the Cardinals in its final game of the season by a score of 5-0.
How it Happened
The Saints were able to score early today, as
Finigan Huffington (Georgetown, Cayman Islands/John Gray HS) notched his second goal of the season in the 18
th minute to take an early 1-0 lead over the Cardinals.
In the 34
th minute, CSS found the back of the net for the second time, this time it was
Nathaniel Campbell (Kingston, Jamaica/St. George's College) scored his goal of the season, coming off of an assist by
Keegan Chastey (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS), to make it 2-0 in favor of CSS.
Shortly after halftime, St. Scholastica struck yet again, as
Clemente Infante (Santiago, Chile/Saint Georges College (Oakland City)) scored his second goal of the season, off Chastey's second assist of the game, to make it 3-0.
Just six minutes after Infante's goal,
Colin O'Reilly (Hopkins, Minn./Hopkins HS) found the back of the net, his second of the season, which was assisted by Chastey, giving him three assists in the match, a career-high, as CSS was running away with the game, leading 4-0.
To add the cherry on top,
Jordan Finneran (Newmarket, England/Cambridge Regional College) scored in the 65
th minute of today's action, scoring his third goal of the season, to make it 5-0 CSS, a lead that CSS would not lose as the Saints were able to end its season on a high-note with a 5-0 victory today.
End of Season
The Saints finished the 2022 season with a record of 6-9-3 and a 4-5-1 confrence record, finishing 8
th in the conference this season. The Saints will also bid farewell to this years seniors,
