MOORHEAD, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team rallied from an early two-goal deficit to defeat Concordia College-Moorhead 5-3 on Saturday to earn the school's first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) victory.
 
How It Happened
The Cobbers (2-5-0, 0-2-0 MIAC) scored a pair of goals in the first 10 minutes of play to lead 2-0. The Saints earned a penalty kick opportunity in the 12th minute and Ken Pryde (Fareham, England/Barton Peveril College) converted to cut the margin in half at 2-1.
 
CSS equalized in the 23rd minute on a Chris Galley (Kent, England/Rivington & Blackrod HS) goal to make it 2-2. Jad Saouma (Zahle, Lebanon/St. Joseph Sisters School Ksara) had the assist. Nolan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) then gave the Saints the lead in the 28th minute thanks to an assist from Miki Lumsden (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College (Lake Superior College)) to make it 3-2. Then in the final minute of the first half, Lumsden made the score 4-2.
 
Concordia made it 4-3 in the 81st minute as the Cobbers put pressure on the Saints in the final 10 minutes. With many players moved forward for Concordia, the Saints took advantage in the 87th minute as Joe Smith (Newcastle, United Kingdom/King Edwards VI School) connected with Romario Willis (Kingston, Jamaica/St. George's College) for the insurance goal as the Saints prevailed 5-3.
