USTFCCCA RELEASE
NEW ORLEANS (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's and women's track & field programs were selected as U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Academic Teams; it was announced on Thursday.
The women's team earns USTFCCCA All-Academic recognition for the 14
th straight season, while the men's team earns the honor for the 11
th time in the last 12 years. The men's team was one of 160 NCAA Division III men's programs to earn the distinction, while the women's team was one of 213 Division III programs. The women's grade-point-average of 3.70 ranked 30
th out of all the women's NCAA Division III programs.
To be named an All-Academic Team the cumulative team GPA (not 2020-21 academic year, not semester) of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility must be at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester/quarter. The women's program had a 3.55 GPA and the men's team had a 3.19 GPA.
Additionally, CSS seniors
Easton Foss (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) and
Ryan Steger (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS), along with junior
Anna Becker (Buffalo, Minn./Maple Lake HS) were named All-Academic Athletes by the USTFCCCA. Foss and Steger are each recognized for the second time in their careers as they both were named in 2019. Becker is named for the first time in her career
To be named an All-Academic Athlete, the athlete must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and meet one of the following criteria.
- Must have finished the indoor or outdoor season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 50, but who participated at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships, are eligible
- Must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams as listed on the indoor or outdoor descending order list on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 35 relay teams, but who participated in the relay at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships, are eligible. Finally, any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions (1 relay team per institution) is eligible.
