Ryan Steger (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) and
Liana Blomgren (Mountain Lake, Minn./Mountain Lake HS) were each named to the NCAA Division III Cross Country/Track & Field Academic All-District Team in their respective genders; it was announced on Thursday.
Steger is named Academic All-District for the second straight year. Steger competed in three sports while attending St. Scholastica, cross country, nordic skiing and track & field. During his time at CSS, he maintained a 4.0 grade-point-average. The Biochemistry and Biology major was the recipient of the UMAC Scholar-Athlete Leadership Award in the spring. Additionally, he earned Track Athlete of the Meet accolades in helping lead the Saints the UMAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship in May.
Blomgren also maintained a 4.0 grade-point-average in her time as a Saint. The Exercise Physiology Major was a two-time Indoor Track & Field All-UMAC performer and a five-time Academic All-UMAC choice between track & field and cross country. Blomgren also captained the cross country squad.
Steger and Blomgren are now eligible for the Academic All-America Team ballot, where All-America honorees will be selected in August.
The All-Academic Teams, which are selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
The teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA participants.
St. Scholastica is included in District 6 and includes NCAA Division III institutions from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan.
