DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team scored seven second half goals en route to an 11-0 victory over Crown College on Tuesday at Saints Field to open its spring season.
How It Happened
The Saints registered four goals in the first half. In his first game as a Saint,
Miki Lumsden (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College (Lake Superior College)) made it 1-0 less than six minutes into the contest. Not too long later,
Peter Haynes (Breckenridge, Colo./Summit HS) scored off a corner to make it 2-0.
Ken Pryde (Fareham, England/Barton Peveril College) scored off another CSS corner in the 19
th minute to make it 3-0.
Jordan Finneran (Newmarket, England/Cambridge Regional College) then scored the final goal of the half in the 27
th minute.
St. Scholastica kept on the pedal in the second half as Finneran scored again five minutes into the half. Lumsden added his second of the game as well a minute later.
Keegan Chastey (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) scored directly off a corner kick and Pryde added his second off a set piece.
Finneran scored his third in the 64
th minute, Chastey added his second in the 73
rd minute and
Oscar Norgren (Little Falls, Minn./Little Falls HS) scored his first collegiate goal in the 74
th minute to make the final 11-0.
Top Performers
Finneran had three goals and two assists on the day. Chastey also had two goals and two assists in his CSS debut.
Zach Madill (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and
Alex Dodd (Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville HS) each recorded a pair of assists.
AliReza Basiri (Eden Prairie, Minn./International School of Minnesota) made just one save in his first collegiate start to earn the shutout.
