DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team closed out the regular season Wednesday afternoon at the Longview Tennis Club with a 6-3 non-conference loss to Saint John's University.
Doubles
The Johnnies (6-3) took all three doubles matches.
The No. 1 team of
Elliot Schneider (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and
Jack Kearney (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) lost by a close 8-6 margin, as did the No. 2 team of
Carter Anderson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and
Jake Jolowsky (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS).
Singles
The Saints were able to win three of the six singles matches.
At the No. 1 spot, Schneider improved to 10-0 with a 6-2, 6-3 victory. Schneider went 4-0 against Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) competition this season.
Anderson also was victorious in straight sets at the No. 4 spot by scores of 6-4, 6-3.
CSS was on both sides of three-set matches.
Riley Versich (Kelly Lake, Minn./Hibbing HS (Itasca CC)) pulled out a three-set win at the No. 5 position by scores of 6-3, 3-6, (12-10). For Versich, it was his sixth straight singles win. Jolowsky suffered a close loss at the No. 3 spot by scores of 4-6, 6-4, (10-8).

The Saints (8-4) will wait to find out whom they will host in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament semifinals in Duluth on Monday.
