DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team blanked Martin Luther College 9-0 on Tuesday in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament semifinal match at the Longview Tennis Club.
Doubles
The No. 1 team of
Elliot Schneider (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and
Jack Kearney (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) won 8-2.
The No. 2 tandem of
Jake Jolowsky (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and
Carter Anderson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) won 8-5.
The No. 3 duo of
Reed Kolles (Otsego, Minn./Rogers HS) and
Reece Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) won by an 8-6 margin.
Singles
Schneider is now 11-0 this season with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at the No. 1 spot. It was also his 50
th career singles victory, becoming the 11
th player in program history to hit that mark.
Kearney prevailed 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot. Jolowsky won 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 3 spot. Anderson dropped only one game in a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 4 spot.
Riley Versich (Kelly Lake, Minn./Hibbing HS (Itasca CC)) dropped just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 spot for his seventh consecutive win.
Bradley Golant (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS (Hearst-NOJHL)) also dropped just one game in a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 6 spot.
Up Next
The Saints (9-4) advance to the UMAC Tournament championship on Friday where they will await the winner of University of Wisconsin-Superior and the University of Northwestern (Minn.). Friday's match is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Longview.
