Men’s Soccer Comes up Short against UW-Superior

SUPERIOR, Wis. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica men's soccer fought in a hard border battle against the University of Wisconsin-Superior Wednesday night, but ended its game with a 4-0 loss.
 
How It Happened
The Saints started hard in the first half with shots by Keegan Chastey (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) and Taylor Tran (Northridge, Calif./Granada Hills Charter HS) in the second minute of the game. Both sides continued to battle and Liam Lothian (Redditch, England/RSA Academy Arrow Vale) saved a ball shot to the right corner seven minutes in. UWS scored their first goal in the eighth minute after a corner kick. Both Miki Lumsden (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College (Lake Superior College)) and Chastey responded with shots to the UWS net before the first period ended.
 
The Saints ended the first half down 1-0 against the Yellowjackets.
 
Both teams entered the second half aggressively with fouls called on both sides. Lothian saved another shot headed toward the center of the goal in the 54th minute. Both sides continued to fight hard and UWS made the score 2-0 in its favor in the 62nd minute. Finigan Huffington (Georgetown, Cayman Islands/John Gray HS) made an attempt three minutes later with a shot to the bottom center. In the 79th minute, the Yellowjackets scored their third goal of the game and in the 83rd minute they scored their fourth.

The Saints (4-2-0, 4-2-0 UMAC) will take on the University of Minnesota Morris at home on Saturday. The UMAC match starts at 1 p.m. at Saints Field.
