DULUTH, MINN. (
csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica men's soccer defeated the University of Minnesota Morris 4-0 on the home turf on Saturday to close the regular season.
How It Happened
The Saints played offensively from the beginning with a shot by
Charly Anzures Catalan (Minneapolis, Minn./Cristo Rey Jesuit HS) a minute and a half into the game. In the 14
th minute
Finigan Huffington (Georgetown, Cayman Islands/John Gray HS) scored the first goal for the Saints, assisted by
Miki Lumsden (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College (Lake Superior College)). Less than 10 minutes later
Keegan Chastey (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) scored the second goal for CSS, after a few good shots by
Nolan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and Lumsden.
Collins Wachira (Nairobi, Kenya/Strathmore University) had a great chance 26 minutes in with a shot to the top of the net, getting deflected by the crossbar. He got it back four minutes later, scoring the third goal of the game with an assist by Chastey. The Saints ended the first half up 3-0.
Three minutes into the second half Lumsden took a shot and a minute later
AliReza Basiri (Eden Prairie, Minn./International School of Minnesota) saved a ball headed for the center of the net. Friday took two opportunities to score in the 57th minute along with
Ken Pryde (Fareham, England/Barton Peveril College) and Huffington in the 60th minute. In the 79th minute, the Saints were awarded a penalty kick and
Alex Dodd (Burnsville, Minn./Burnsville HS) scored the fourth goal of the game.
The Saints ended the game up by four, shutting out Minnesota Morris.
