DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team defeated their Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) competition, Northland College, 2-0 on Wednesday at Saints Field.

How It Happened
The Saints came out hard in the first half, taking 12 shots to Northland's two. The first shot of the game came from Nolan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS), with a strike to the left corner nine minutes in. The 21st minute had a lot of action with both Arseno Hamilton (Kingston, Jamaica/St. George College (Trinidad State JC)) and Friday making attempts with Hamilton's attempt striking the crossbar from about 50 yards out.

The Saints found the back of the net in the 30th minute when Hamilton aimed for the low right corner on a free kick and scored the first goal of the game for CSS. The Saints kept firing the shots and Miki Lumsden (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College (Lake Superior College)) had three great attempts before the first half ended. The Saints entered the second half with a 1-0 lead.

Collins Wachira (Nairobi, Kenya/Strathmore University) took the first shot of the second half nearly four minutes in before two more attempts were made by Keegan Chastey (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) and Zach Madill (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) a minute later. The Saints continued to fire the shots, keeping possession of the ball for the majority of the half. In the 89th minute Wachira, with the assist from Finigan Huffington (Georgetown, Cayman Islands/John Gray HS), took a shot to the lower left of the goal and scored the second goal for CSS. The Saints ended the match with a 2-0 victory to keep their undefeated record alive.
