MORRIS, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team capped off a busy week with a 7-2 win over the University of Minnesota Morris on Sunday to improve to 5-0 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action.
Doubles
The Saints showed their strength in doubles, winning all three matches, convincingly. The No. 1 team of
Jack Kearney (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and
Jake Jolowsky (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) won 8-1. The No. 2 team of
Rafa Gonzalez (La Libertad, El Salvador/FESA) and
Reece Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) didn't drop a game in an 8-0 decision. The No. 3 duo of
Duke Nguyen (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy and Summit School) and
Bradley Golant (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South HS (Hearst-NOJHL)) rolled to an 8-2 victory.
Singles
Jolowsky dropped only one game to win 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot.
Giacomo Lucchesi (Lima, Peru/Santa Maria Marianistas) also dropped just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 4 spot.
Riley Versich (Kelly Lake, Minn./Hibbing HS (Itasca CC)) won 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 5 position. The final winner of the day was
Reed Kolles (Otsego, Minn./Rogers HS) in a marathon match at the No. 6 spot by scores of 6-3, 5-7, (16-14).
