ST. PAUL, Minn. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica men's soccer defeated Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) rival University of Northwestern (Minn.) on Thursday 4-0 in a makeup of an earlier postponed conference.

How It Happened
The Saints started taking shots early in the game, with two great chances by Finigan Huffington (Georgetown, Cayman Islands/John Gray HS) before the 20 minute mark. They continued to pepper the goal with three shots fired during the 35th minute by Jordan Finneran (Newmarket, England/Cambridge Regional College), Miki Lumsden (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College (Lake Superior College)), and Keegan Chastey (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS). 40 minutes into the first half Joe Smith (Newcastle, United Kingdom/King Edwards VI School) scored the first goal of the game, with an assist by Finneran.

The Saints ended the first half with a 1-0 lead over the Eagles, and took 15 shots to Northwestern's two.

CSS continued to push offensively as they entered the second half with a goal in the 49th minute by Taylor Tran (Northridge, Calif./Granada Hills Charter HS). A little less than five minutes later the Saints secured another goal with the shot by Chastey and the assist by Smith at the 54-minute mark. CSS continued to play aggressively and made a few substitutions before Finneran took a shot towards the bottom left that was saved by the UNW goalie, but he put in the rebound to make the final score 4-0.

The Saints ended the game strong with eight shots in the second period, three of them finding the back of the net.

Top Performers
Smith and Finneran both had a goal and an assist. Liam Lothian (Redditch, England/RSA Academy Arrow Vale) had to make only two saves to earn another shutout.
