VIRGINIA, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team was back at the Virginia Indoor Tennis and Pickleball Club on Sunday where it fell in a close non-conference contest to St. Olaf College 6-3.
Doubles
The Oles (3-2) took two of the three doubles matches. CSS' No. 2 team of
Jake Jolowsky (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and
Carter Anderson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) won in a tiebreaker 8-7 (7-4). Jolowsky and Anderson have won three straight matches.
Singles
Three of the six singles matches would go to a third-set super-breaker. The Saints won the first super-breaker as
Elliot Schneider (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) kept his unbeaten record in tact at the No. 1 spot with a 6-4, 4-6, (10-4) victory.
Riley Versich (Kelly Lake, Minn./Hibbing HS (Itasca CC)) then won in straight sets at the No. 6 spot by scores of 6-3, 6-4 to tie the dual match at 3-3.
Two of the final three matches to finish were decided in a third-set super-breaker, with St. Olaf winning each of those, despite dropping the first set in each to take the dual 6-3.

The Saints (2-3) were scheduled to face Wisconsin Lutheran College on Wednesday, but that match has been canceled. The next scheduled contest is Sunday, April 11 at Concordia College-Moorhead.
