VIRGINIA, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team began Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action on Saturday with a 9-0 victory over Martin Luther College at the Virginia Indoor Tennis and Pickleball Club.
Doubles
The No. 1 team of
Elliot Schneider (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and
Jack Kearney (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) won for the second straight match by a score of 8-3. The No. 2 tandem of
Jake Jolowsky (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and
Carter Anderson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) blanked their opponents 8-0. The No. 3 duo of
Reed Kolles (Otsego, Minn./Rogers HS) and
Reece Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) won by an 8-4 margin.
Singles
Schneider remained undefeated at the No. 1 spot this season, shutting out his opponent 6-0, 6-0. Kearney surrendered just one game in the 6-0, 6-1 triumph at the No. 2 spot for his first singles win of the season.
Jolowsky at No. 3 and Anderson at No. 4 dropped just two games with Jolowsky winning 6-2, 6-0 and Anderson prevailing 6-0, 6-2. That was Jolowsky's first singles win of the season.
Giacomo Lucchesi (Lima, Peru/Santa Maria Marianistas) won 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot and
Riley Versich (Kelly Lake, Minn./Hibbing HS (Itasca CC)) came out on top 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot for his first collegiate win.
