MEQUON, Wis. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team scored first, but Concordia University Wisconsin added the next five to complete the weekend sweep by a 5-1 margin on Saturday.
How it Happened
The Saints outshot the Falcons (4-7-0, 2-0-0 NCHA) 16-11 in the first period, but the contest remained scoreless heading into the second. Less than three minutes into the second period,
Carson Rose (Surrey, British Columbia/Elgin Park Secondary (Weyburn-SJHL)) scored his first of the season to give the Saints a 1-0 advantage.
Karl Wright (Cambridge, Mass./Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (Connecticut Nighthawks-USPHL)) and
Nathan Adrian (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS (Minnesota Wilderness-NAHL)) had the assists.
CSS committed a penalty a minute later and Concordia took advantage with a power-play goal to tie the contest at 1-1. The Falcons added two more goals in the final 2:30 of the second period to take a 3-1 lead at the second intermission.
With four-on-four hockey at the midway point of the third period, the Falcons scored a pair of goals 14 seconds apart to make the final tally 5-1.
Goaltending
Nick Trenciansky (Vancouver, British Columbia/Holy Cross Regional HS (Kindersley-SJHL)) made 36 saves for the Saints, while Liam McGarva had 37 saves for the Falcons.
