ST. CLOUD, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team scored the first three goals of the contest and first-year goaltender
Jack Bostedt (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig HS (Minnesota Mullets-USPHL)) made 44 saves to preserve a 3-1 triumph over Saint John's University Wednesday night at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.
How it Happened
The Johnnies (3-2) had a 15-6 edge in shots in the opening period, but it was the Saints that scored first for the third straight game when
Carson Rose (Surrey, British Columbia/Elgin Park Secondary (Weyburn-SJHL)) lit the lamp on the power-play to make 1-0 after one period of play.
Sam Fuss (Edina, Minn./Edina HS (Minot-NAHL)) and
Jordan Fralich (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School (Bismarck-NAHL)) were credited with the assists.
Following the 10-minute mark of the second period, the Saints added to their lead with a pair of goals 100 seconds apart. First it was
Boe Bjorge (Grand Forks, N.D./Grand Forks Central HS (Thief River Falls-SIJHL)) scoring his first of the season with an assist from
Michael Talbot (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS (Minot-NAHL)) to make it 2-0. A
Riley Bechard (Sedley, Saskatchewan/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (Woodstock-MJAHL)) tally followed with assists from
Will Fisher (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Boston Jr. Rangers-EHL)) and
Parker Mismash (Edina, Minn./Edina HS (Minnesota Magicians-NAHL)) to extend the margin to 3-0. The Johnnies got on the board shortly later to make it 3-1 at the second intermission.
Saint John's had two power-play opportunities in the third period, but CSS goaltender
Jack Bostedt (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig HS (Minnesota Mullets-USPHL)) stopped all 16 shots he faced in the period as the Saints came out on top 3-1. The CSS win snaps a three-game win streak for the Johnnies.

Bostedt made 44 saves for his first collegiate victory, while Mac Berglove had 26 saves for Saint John's.
