JACKSON, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team earned its first victory of the season with a 5-4 triumph over Concordia University Wisconsin Friday night at the Pleasant Valley Tennis Club.
 
Doubles
The Saints won two of the three doubles matches with the No. 2 tandem of Carter Anderson (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and Jake Jolowsky (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) winning 8-5. The No. 3 team of Giacomo Lucchesi (Lima, Peru/Santa Maria Marianistas) and Reece Patten (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) also won by an 8-4 margin.
 
Singles
St. Scholastica needed only three wins in the six singles matches to clinch the dual. Elliot Schneider (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) won his second match of the season at the No. 1 spot by scores of 6-2, 6-2. After the Falcons (0-2) won three matches it came down to the final two matches at the No. 4 and 5 spots.
 
Lucchesi won in straight sets at the No. 5 spot 6-0, 6-1. Anderson followed by giving CSS the dual win with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at the No. 4 spot.
 
Up Next
The Saints (1-1) will be off for the next couple of weeks before returning to action to face the University of St. Thomas on Sunday, March 14 in Minneapolis.
