csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team put up 12 goals in a 12-4 victory over Finlandia University (Mich.) Friday night at Mars Lakeview Arena in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) matchup.
How it Happened
The Saints scored five goals in the opening period with
Zack DeBoom (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (Granite City-NA3HL)) scoring the first two off of rebounds in the first 10 minutes of the game.
Jordan Fralich (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School (Bismarck-NAHL)) scored St. Scholastica's third goal with 9:28 remaining in the first period. After the Lions got on the scoreboard,
Tyler Hinterser (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville HS (Brookings-NAHL)) and
Carson Rose (Surrey, British Columbia/Elgin Park Secondary (Weyburn-SJHL)) added CSS' final two goals of the period to make it 5-1 after one.
Finlandia made it interesting with a pair of goals less than two minutes apart to make it 5-3. Following a CSS timeout with nine minutes left in the second period the Saints scored three goals in a short span with the first coming from
Filimon Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya (New York Aviators-USPHL)), the second from
Nathan Adrian (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS (Minnesota Wilderness-NAHL)) and the third from
Riley Bechard (Sedley, Saskatchewan/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (Woodstock-MJAHL)) as the margin was all of sudden 8-3.
Arkhip Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya (New York Aviators-USPHL)) added St. Scholastica's final goal of the period to make it 9-3 at the second intermission.
Will Fisher (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Boston Jr. Rangers-EHL)) gave the Saints 10 goals less than a minute into the third period.
Jordan Fralich (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School (Bismarck-NAHL)) added his second of the night less than two minutes into the period and
Sam Fuss (Edina, Minn./Edina HS (Minot-NAHL)) scored the final goal of the evening less than four minutes in the third period to make the final 12-4.
Goaltending
Jack Bostedt (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig HS (Minnesota Mullets-USPHL)) made 24 saves to improve to 3-1 on the year. Finlandia used all three dressed goaltenders with Gloss receiving the loss and recording 18 saves.
