Tyler Hinterser (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville HS (Brookings-NAHL)) scored twice, but the St. Scholastica men's hockey team never led Friday night in a 7-3 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) setback at Lawrence University (Wis.).
How it Happened
The game marked the season-opener for the Vikings, who took just 60 seconds to take a 1-0 lead. Lawrence added another goal with four minutes remaining in the period to make it 2-0 after one period of action.
After the Vikings made it 3-0 nine minutes into the second period, Hinterser scored his first of the night 53 seconds later to make it 3-1.
Nathan Adrian (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS (Minnesota Wilderness-NAHL)) and
Karl Wright (Cambridge, Mass./Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (Connecticut Nighthawks-USPHL)) had the assists. However, Lawrence answered with another goal in the period to put the score at 4-1 at the second intermission.
Hinterser added his second of the evening, on the power-play, to open the scoring in the third period to cut the margin to 4-2.
Filimon Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya (New York Aviators-USPHL)) and
Michael Talbot (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS (Minot-NAHL)) had the assists. Unfortunately, the Vikings scored two quick goals to widen the margin back to 6-2.
Both teams netted one more goal in the final four minutes with the CSS goal coming from
Sam Fuss (Edina, Minn./Edina HS (Minot-NAHL)) with Wright and
Riley Bechard (Sedley, Saskatchewan/Athol Murray College of Notre Dame (Woodstock-MJAHL)) on the assists to make the final 7-3.
