DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team killed off a major penalty in the final six minutes and got a career-high 47 saves from sophomore goaltender Jack Bostedt (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig HS (Minnesota Mullets-USPHL)) as the Saints knocked off sixth-ranked University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point 2-1 Saturday night at Mars Lakeview Arena.

How it Happened
The Pointers (2-2-0) scored the lone goal of the first period as Brandon McReynolds found the net seven minutes into the game. The second period saw the Saints kill off a pair of Pointer power-plays early in the period. CSS then had a 5-on-3 power-play for one minute, but could not capitalize.

The Saints would get another power-play opportunity later in the second period and took advantage this time as Bryce Johnson (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS (Thief River Falls-SIJHL)) redirected a pass in front to tie the contest at 1-1 with 5:26 left in the second period. Jon Hansen (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall (Minnesota Mullets-USPHL)) and Nathan Adrian (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS (Minnesota Wilderness-NAHL)) had the assists.

CSS killed off another Stevens Point power-play at the end of the second and early third period. Moments later, four minutes and 30 seconds into the period, Jacob Seitz (Mountain Iron, Minn./Virginia HS (Minnesota Magicians-NAHL)) found the net to give the Saints their first lead of the night at 2-1. Hansen and Arkhip Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya (New York Aviators-USPHL)) had the assists.

With the score still 2-1, the Saints would commit a five-minute major penalty with 5:55 remaining. The Pointers pulled the netminder with less than two minutes remaining on the major, but the Saints and Bostedt stood tall as Bostedt made 10 saves during the major and made four more saves in the final minute to preserve the 2-1 St. Scholastica victory.

Goaltending
Bostedt finished with a career-high 47 saves. Ryan Wagner had 15 saves for the Pointers.
