How it Happened
The Saints struck first with nine minutes left in the opening period when Brent Jones (Hartland, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS (Trine)) scored on the breakaway to make it 1-0. Danylo Sukhonos (Kharkiv, Ukraine/Brovary Professional Lyceum (New York Aviators-USPHL)) and Brodie Girod (Clavet, Saskatchewan/Clavet HS (Nipawin-SJHL)) had the assists. The Blue Devils (0-3-0) knotted things up at 1-1 with just over three minutes remaining in the first period as they scored on a breakaway short-handed. The score stood at 1-1 at the first intermission with shots tied at 9-9 as well.

St. Scholastica controlled the second period, outshooting Stout 16-5 in the period. However, the game remained tied until Tyler Hinterser (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville HS (Brookings-NAHL)) skated in on the left and put one in off the goaltender to make it 2-1 with 3:28 left in the period. Karl Wright (Cambridge, Mass./Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (Connecticut Nighthawks-USPHL)) was credited with the assist. Just 25 seconds later, Filimon Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya (New York Aviators-USPHL)) got behind the defense and extend the lead to 3-1 with another assist from Wright. It would be 3-1 at the second intermission.

The Blue Devils got a pair of power-plays in the third period, but could not do anything with them. Nathan Adrian (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS (Minnesota Wilderness-NAHL)) put the game away with an empty-net goal with 1:25 left to make the final 4-1. Michael Talbot (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS (Minot-NAHL)) and Brent Jones (Hartland, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central HS (Trine)) had the assists.
