DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The fifth-ranked Augsburg University Auggies scored four goals in the second period en route to a 5-2 win over the St. Scholastica men's hockey team Friday night in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) action at Mars Lakeview Arena.
How it Happened
The Saints went the whole period 0-0 with Augsburg, and had one power play where they had four out of their six shots within this first period including a great scoring chance by
Arkhip Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya (New York Aviators-USPHL)) that was denied at the doorstep.
The second period was one-sided toward the Auggies. Within this period, Augsburg scored four goals. All of which were spread out throughout the whole period. The Saints were held to just three shots with the Auggies totaling 22 shots in this period.
CSS recorded the first goal in the third period. It was made by
Nathan Adrian (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS (Minnesota Wilderness-NAHL)), assisted by
Bryce Johnson (Roseau, Minn./Roseau HS (Thief River Falls-SIJHL)) and
Michael Talbot (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS (Minot-NAHL)) five minutes in. Shortly after though the Auggies responded with their fifth goal of the evening just over a minute later.
CSS was able to put one in the net in the final minute of the game to make the final score 5-2. This one was scored by A. Ledenkov, assisted by brother
Filimon Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya (New York Aviators-USPHL)) and
Jon Hansen (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall (Minnesota Mullets-USPHL)).
Goaltender
Jack Bostedt (Janesville, Wis./Janesville Craig HS (Minnesota Mullets-USPHL)) started the game for the Saints and had 29 saves.
Jack Branby (St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park HS (Winnipeg Blues-MJHL)) finished the game for the Saints and had 11 saves. Augsburg's Jack Robbel had 11 saves on the night as well and allowed multiple goals for the first time this season
