DULUTH, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's soccer team hosted the Knights of Carleton College Saturday on Saints Field in a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) matchup. The Saints jumped out to a 3-1 lead, but Carleton converted three penalties in the second half to rally for 4-3 victory.
How it Happened
The Saints stuck the scoreboard early in the first half with a goal from
Clemente Infante (Santiago, Chile/Saint Georges College (Oakland City)) assisted by
Finigan Huffington (Georgetown, Cayman Islands/John Gray HS) six minutes into the game. It wouldn't take CSS long to add another goal to their lead. This time it was a goal by
Nolan Friday (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) assisted by
Akeem Robotham (Kingston, Jamaica/St. George's College (Johnson County CC)) which gave the saints a 2-0 lead only 12 minutes into the game.
Carleton (10-3-2, 7-2 MIAC) responded with a goal of their own in the 58th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. Shortly thereafter, CSS would get a player sent off due to a second yellow card, meaning they played the rest of the game with just 10 players. However in the 69
th minute, the Saints scored another goal by
Jordan Finneran (Newmarket, England/Cambridge Regional College) assisted by
Zach Madill (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) and Infante to make it 3-1
Carleton caught a break and added three more goals on penalty kicks in the 70
th, 75
th, and 86
th minutes to take a 4-3 lead. The Saints tried to even the score, but fell in this contest 4-3.

Liam Lothian (Redditch, England/RSA Academy Arrow Vale) recorded six saves in the contest as well.
