csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team was out-shot 12-3 and surrendered three goals in the opening period in a 5-1 setback to the University of St. Thomas Saturday night in its season opener.
How it Happened
The Tommies got on the board less than three minutes into the game. CSS then gave up two power-play goals in the period and trailed 3-0 at the first intermission.
After the Saints could not take advantage of a pair of power-plays in the second, St. Thomas extended its lead to 4-0 with an even-strength goal late in the period.
After the Tommies made it 5-0 six minutes into the third period, the Saints got on the board in the final five minutes of the game as
Michael Talbot (Anoka, Minn./Anoka HS (Minot-NAHL)) found the net to make the final 5-1.
Arkhip Ledenkov (Polotsk, Belarus/Ostroshitsko-Gorodokskaya (New York Aviators-USPHL)) had an assist in his first collegiate game and sophomore
Tyler Hinterser (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville HS (Brookings-NAHL)) also recorded an assist on the goal.

Nick Trenciansky (Vancouver, British Columbia/Holy Cross Regional HS (Kindersley-SJHL)) had 25 saves in the loss for the Saints. Henry Baribeau made just seven saves to earn the win before being replaced by Jake Berger, who had 16 saves.
