Another Top Five for Book Bratbak to Begin Region Championships

ISHPEMING, Mich. (csssaints.com) – Sophomore Emil Book Bratbak (Asgardstrand, Norway/Lillehammer) posted his seventh consecutive top-five finish on Saturday to pace the St. Scholastica men's ski team at the NCAA Central Region Championships in the 10km freestyle individual start at the Al Quaal Recreation Area.
 
Top Performers
Book Bratbak came across the finish line with the fifth-fastest time at 25:01. With the fifth-place finish, Book Bratbak earns First Team All-Region honors in the freestyle technique and will look to sweep all-region accolades on Sunday.
 
Sophomore John Schwinghamer (Mora, Minn./Mora HS (South Dakota State)) just missed all-region honors coming in with the 11th fastest time at 26:18. Another sophomore Nick Matelich (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman HS (Montana State)) was the final Saint to score in 15th place with a time of 26:34 as he edged teammate Gus Schatzlein (Savage, Minn./Prior Lake HS) by a tenth of a second.
 
Team Scores
Northern Michigan University won as a team with 108 points. Mathias Rolid continued his strong run, winning the event with a time of 24:09. Michigan Tech University was second with 86 points and the Saints third with 73 points.
 
Up Next
Tomorrow (Sunday) will be the final race of the season as the Saints will take part in the 20km classic mass start beginning at 10 a.m. (ET).
