Men’s Basketball With Two Key UMAC Home Games this Week

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team begins a three-game home stand to finish the regular season this week with Bridge Rival University of Wisconsin-Superior coming across on Wednesday and the University of Minnesota Morris visiting on Saturday.

What You Need to Know about the Saints:
-The Saints enter the week on a two-game win streak and have already clinched an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Tournament spot.
-With three league games remaining, CSS has already clinched at least the No. 4 seed and are three games behind UWS, University of Northwestern (Minn.) and Bethany Lutheran College.
-Sophomore Quinn Fischer (Esko, Minn./Esko HS) is coming off a career-high 28-point performance against Crown College on Saturday.
-First-year guard Isiah Hendrickson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) scored a season-high 15 points on Saturday.
-Senior Collin Anderson (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) leads the team in scoring at 15.7 points per game.
-Anderson ranks second in the conference with 62 made 3-point field goals.
-The Saints continue to have five players averaging in double-figures in scoring; CSS has not finished a season with five players averaging in double-figures in scoring since the 1996-97 season.
-CSS is one more league win away from its fifth consecutive season with at least 10 UMAC wins.
 
What You Need to Know about UW-Superior:
Record: 14-7, 11-1 UMAC
-The Yellowjackets will enter Wednesday's contest on a four-game win streak with three of those wins decided by six points or less.
-The lone conference loss of the season was at Northwestern in January.
-UWS is tied with Northwestern and Bethany Lutheran for first place and faces those two teams the final two games of the regular season.
-Superior has been solid defensively, limiting opponents to a conference-best 68.9 points per game.
-The Yellowjackets also take care of the ball with just 11.2 turnovers per game, which ranks 24th in NCAA Division III.
-Vid Milenkovic leads the team in scoring at 17.9 points per game.
-Of the top five teams in the conference, UWS is the only team to have only one individual in the top 10 in the league in scoring.
-Milenkovic also leads the team on the glass, averaging 9.9 rebounds per game.
-Milenkovic leads the conference in free throws made (103) and attempted (135).
-UWS and Northwestern are the only UMAC teams to have three players averaging at least 30 minutes per game.

-The Cougars are still in contention for the fifth-and-final UMAC Tournament spot and will have a key matchup against Crown on Wednesday
-A loss against the Storm on Wednesday would eliminate the Cougars.
-Morris had a nine-point road win at Northland College on Saturday.
-Dillon Haider leads the team in scoring at 14.4 points per game.
-Haider leads the conference with 3.1, 3-point field goals per game and ranks second, making 41.4 percent of his 3-point attempts.
-Jaret Johnson and Ian Carlin each average over five rebounds per game.
-James Pendleton has recorded a triple-double this season.
-The Cougars don't take care of the ball, leading the UMAC with 14.4 turnovers per game.
 
Series Record: UMM leads 26-20 (Last Meeting: 81-80 CSS – 1/11/2020)
 
Series History: The Saints overcame a 19-point deficit in Morris in January to win 81-80 … It was the largest deficit overcome since a February 2016 victory over UW-Superior (20 points) … The Cougars defeated the Saints at The Reif last season.
