Another Podium for Book Bratbak in Rhinelander

RHINELANDER, Wis. (csssaints.com) – Sophomore Emil Book Bratbak (Asgardstrand, Norway/Lillehammer) recorded his third consecutive Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) podium finish on Saturday, coming in third in the 20km classic mass start of the Northwoods Nordic Invitational at the CAVOC Trails.
 
Top Performers
Book Bratbak finished third for the second consecutive race, behind Northern Michigan University's Mathias Rolid and Kjetil Banerud. Book Bratbak finished over a minute behind the winner Rolid with a time of 1:04:58. He is the first Saint since 2013 to have three consecutive top-three finishes in CCSA races.
 
Sophomore John Schwinghamer (Mora, Minn./Mora HS (South Dakota State)) scored for the team for the first time this season and recorded his first CCSA top-10 finish, coming in eighth with a time of 1:08:29. Sophomore Nick Matelich (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman HS (Montana State)) scored for the third straight race, finishing 14th with a time of 1:10:59.
 
Team Scores
Northern Michigan won as a team on the day with 106 points. Michigan Tech University was second with 83 points and the Saints third with 77 points.
 
Up Next
The Saints conclude action at the CAVOC trails tomorrow (Sunday) with the individual start 10km freestyle. Racing starts at noon.
