MANKATO, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's basketball team traveled to Bethany Lutheran College for an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) matchup on Saturday afternoon. Turnovers would plague the Saints offense for the majority of the game and would be the detriment to scoring runs to chip away from an early 13-point deficit. The Saints would fall 108-91.

How It Happened
The Vikings (15-5, 10-1 UMAC) came out scorching hot from the field making their first 10 shots of the game, meanwhile the Saints would struggle from the field leading to Bethany Lutheran holding a 21-8 lead to start out the first five minutes of the game.

Nick Carlson (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS) was the leader of a Saints run that brought their deficit down to six points at 25-19 with 12:47 left in the first half. The Vikings built their lead back up to 12 before a 7-0 run for the Saints would bring the score within five at 31-26. Another Bethany Lutheran run extended its lead back up to 11 points and the Saints would not make any positive progress to chip away at the lead the remainder of the half going into the break down 54-43.

The Saints and Vikings traded buckets for the first five minutes of the half before Bethany Lutheran went on a 10-0 run to extend their lead to 75-55. St. Scholastica cut the deficit to 15, but the Vikings continued their strong defense and capitalize on St. Scholastica turnovers. The Saints did not any closer than 15 the rest of the game, ultimately falling 108-91.
