Book Bratbak Paces Men’s Skiing in First CCSA/NCAA Qualifier

HOUGHTON, Mich. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's nordic ski team competed in the 15km individual freestyle on Friday at the U.S. Championships, which was also the first Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA)/NCAA Qualifier of the season.
 
Top Performances
Sophomore Emil Book Bratbak (Asgardstrand, Norway/Lillehammer) led the charge for the Saints, coming across the line 48th overall and seventh among CCSA skiers with a time of 40:01. Junior Tamer Mische-Richter (Bloomington, Minn./John F. Kennedy HS) was the next Saint to finish in 83rd overall (12th CCSA) with a time of 41:13.
 
The final Saint to score was junior Ryan Steger (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) in 109th overall (17th CCSA) with a time of 42:42. Sophomore Nick Matelich (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman HS (Montana State)) was also a top-20 CCSA skier with a finishing in 43:07.
 
Team Scores
The Saints finished third on the day with a team score of 72. The host, Michigan Tech University, narrowly beat out Northern Michigan University for the top CCSA team score 99-97.
 
Up Next
The Saints return to the course on Sunday for the 30km classic race, which begins at 9:30 a.m. (ET).
