How It Happened
The Saints jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead with Quinn Fischer (Esko, Minn./Esko HS) and Jack Silgen (Crosby, Minn./Crosby-Ironton HS (St. Thomas)) getting the scoring going. The Rams (5-14, 2-7 UMAC) responded with a 9-3 run to tie the game up 9-9 and once again at 11-11 before Collin Anderson (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) would come in off the bench to score eight of the Saints next 12 points to go up 23-13.

North Central slowly chipped away at the CSS lead and would bring the game within two points with four minutes left in the half at 37-35. After a pair of made free throws the game was tied at 39-39 with 2:11 left in the half. Neither team would get strong momentum with the score going into half 43-43. Both teams shot over 54 percent in the half.

The Rams came out of the break on a 20-9 run in the first five minutes to gain a 63-52 lead. The Saints answered with a 20-8 run themselves to tie the game back up at 72-72 with 7:27 remaining in the second half. St. Scholastica would continue its hot shooting and the lead grew to as large as eight points at 86-78.

However, North Central went on a run 9-4 run in the next three minutes to bring the score within one at 88-87 with 33 seconds remaining in the game. Anderson would make a layup to bring the lead back up to three for the Saints, but quickly on the other end North Central would answer with a layup to bring the score to 90-89 with nine seconds left. Nick Carlson (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS) would be fouled and go to the line and make both free throws to bring the score to 92-89 with eight seconds remaining. Following a timeout, North Central would hit a three on a drive-and-kick at the buzzer to tie the game at 92-92 and send the game into overtime.

North Central would gain a quick four-point lead before the Saints scored 12 straight points to gain a 104-96 lead. St. Scholastica would get fouled and head to the line and handle the last-minute offensive barrage by North Central to hold onto a 106-103 win.
