-CSS allows seventh short-handed goal of the season, but scores eighth power-play goal
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team gave up three goals in both the second and third periods in a 6-1 setback at No. 7 Lake Forest College (Ill.) on Friday in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NHCA) play.
How It Happened
The first period was scoreless with the Foresters having a 10-6 advantage in shots. However, CSS would be called for a major penalty less than a minute into the second period. Lake Forest capitalized 50 seconds later with a power-play goal. The Foresters then added another goal on that same power-play to make it 2-0.
After Lake Forest made it 3-0, the Saints got on the board with a power-play goal by
Carson Rose (Surrey, British Columbia/Elgin Park Secondary (Weyburn-SJHL)) to make it 3-1 at the second intermission.
Jordan Fralich (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School (Bismarck-NAHL)) was credited with the assist.
St. Scholastica had a power-play to end the second period and open the third period, but surrendered a short-handed goal 13 seconds into the third period to make it a three-goal game once again at 4-1. The Foresters added two more goals to make the final 6-1.
Goaltending
Nick Trenciansky (Vancouver, British Columbia/Holy Cross Regional HS (Kindersley-SJHL)) made 37 saves for the Saints, while Boyd DiClemente had 23 saves for the Foresters.
