Men’s Skiers Tie for Second Following Personal-Best CCSA Finish for Book Bratbak

RESULTS

COLERAINE, Minn. (csssaints.com) – For the second straight day sophomore Emil Book Bratbak (Asgardstrand, Norway/Lillehammer) posted a top-five finish to lead the St. Scholastica men's nordic ski team to tie for second place on the day after the 20km classic mass start as part of the Saints Invitational at the Mount Itasca Winter Sports Center.

Top Performances
Sunday's race consisted of four laps around the 5km loop. Book Bratbak would have the lead on the field after 15km, but would be overtaken by Northern Michigan University's Mathias Rolid on the final lap to settle for second with a time of 58:19, two seconds behind Rolid.

The second place finish is the highest by a Saint in a CCSA race since Reitler Hodgert placed second at the Hilltop Invite in Duluth in 2017. It also marked the first time since the 2015 season a Saint has finished in the top five in both races of a CCSA weekend.

Junior Tamer Mische-Richter (Bloomington, Minn./John F. Kennedy HS) posted his second straight top-10 finish, coming in seventh with a time of 59:56. The final Saint to score was sophomore Nick Matelich (Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman HS (Montana State)) in 12th with a time of 1:01:58.

John Schwinghamer (Mora, Minn./Mora HS (South Dakota State)) and Bjorn Larson (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS (Colorado State)) also posted top 20 finishes for the Saints.

Team Points
Northern Michigan won as a team recording 100 points. The Saints tied Michigan Tech for second place with 84 points. That marks the first time the Saints have finished second with Northern Michigan competing since 2017.
