csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's hockey team allowed two short-handed goals in a 5-1 setback at Marian University (Wis.) Friday night in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) North Division action.
How It Happened
The only goal of the first period would be short-handed by the Sabres, scoring unassisted on CSS' first power-play of the game.
The lone even-strength goal of the contest was scored by Marian less than two minutes into the second period to make it 2-0. The Sabres added a power-play goal two minutes later to extend the lead to 3-0. Later in the period, Marian added another short-handed goal to make it 4-0.
The Saints got on the board with three minutes left in the second period as
Jordan Fralich (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Marshall School (Bismarck-NAHL)) scored on the power-play.
Carson Rose (Surrey, British Columbia/Elgin Park Secondary (Weyburn-SJHL)) and
Mike Nolan (Aldergrove, British Columbia/Yale Secondary (Fresno-WSHL)) were credited with the assists.
Marian added a power-play goal in the third period to make the final 5-1.
Goaltending
Nick Trenciansky (Vancouver, British Columbia/Holy Cross Regional HS (Kindersley-SJHL)) had 24 saves for the Saints, while Colby Muise recorded 25 saves for the Sabres.
