Men’s Track & Field Places a Close Second at UMAC Championships

FINAL RESULTS

MORRIS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's track & field team came nine points shy of champion University of Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Outdoor Championships, hosted by the University of Minnesota Morris.
 
Winners
After setting a program and meet record in the 800m run on Friday, Ryan Steger (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) captured the 400m run title on Saturday breaking his own program record he set last week with a time of 50.27.
 
Easton Foss (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS), who won the 3000m steeplechase with a meet record time on Friday, was victorious in the 5000m run on Saturday with a time of 15:42.99. Foss was also third in the 1,500m run with a finishing time of 4:08.91.
 
Other Top Performances
The 4x400m relay team of Teddy Widmer (Bend, Ore./Bend HS), Michael Petron (Royalton, Minn./Royalton HS), Finigan Huffington (Georgetown, Cayman Islands/John Gray HS) and Steger were edged at the finish line to conclude the meet with a second-place time of 3:24.83.
 
After his win in the long jump on Friday, Nick Carlson (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS) was runner-up in the triple jump with a season-best mark of 43'5.25" (13.24m). It was also a runner-up finish for Huffington in the high jump, clearing a season-best height of 6'0" (1.83m).
 
Malcolm Lumsden (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College (Lake Superior College)) was third in the 100m dash with a time of 11.23. Petron was fifth in that event at a season-best time of 11.32.
 
Isaac Boedigheimer (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) was third in the 5000m run with a season-best time of 15:53.45. He was also fourth in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:11.38.
 
Frank Cerar (Plainview, Minn./Plainview-Elgin-Millville HS) finished third in the 110m hurdles in a time of 16.61. Cerar was also fourth in the triple jump with a season-best mark of 39'9.75" (12.13m).
 
Widmer was fourth in the 400m dash, posting a season-best time of 51.63.
