Men’s Track & Field Wins 4 Titles on Day 1 of UMAC Championships

DAY ONE RESULTS

MORRIS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – After only one conference champion in 2018, the St. Scholastica men's track & field team had four event champions on day one of the 2019 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Outdoor Championships on Friday.
 
Winners
Sophomore Ryan Steger (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) also set a new meet and program record in the 800m run with a first-place time of 1:53.85. The previous program record was set in 2008.
 
Junior Easton Foss (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) set a new meet record in the 3000m steeplechase with a winning time of 9:35.53.
 
Senior Frank Cerar (Plainview, Minn./Plainview-Elgin-Millville HS), who was the only event champion at last year's outdoor championships, captured the pole vault title for the second straight year, clearing a season-best height of 13'1.5" (4.00m).
 
Freshman Nick Carlson (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS) would take the long jump title with a season-best leap of 21'9" (6.63m).
 
Other Top Performances
Malcolm Lumsden (Kingston, Jamaica/Kingston College (Lake Superior College)) was third in the 200m dash, posting a time of 23.28. Michael Petron (Royalton, Minn./Royalton HS) was fourth with a time of 23.29.
 
Donovan Blatz (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) was third in the long jump with an outdoor personal-best mark of 20'8" (6.30m).
 
Joe Guimond (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) placed third in the javelin with a throw of 136'6" (41.62m).
 
Isaac Boedigheimer (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) was sixth in the 800m run with a personal-best time of 2:01.34.
 
Hunter Skluzacek (Saginaw, Minn./South Ridge HS) was seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 131'0" (39.93m).
