Steger Improves 800m Time; Awaits NCAA Announcement

RESULTS

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (csssaints.com) – St. Scholastica track & field sent four individuals down to North Central College (Ill.) for the final qualifying meet of the year, the Gregory Invitational.

Steger Sets Another Record
Sophomore Ryan Steger (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) needed to improve his time in the 800m run as he was just on the outside looking in for next week's NCAA Championships.

Steger would do just that placing second in the 800m run with a program record time of 1:51.76, which is enough to get him in the field. That was eight-tenths-of-a-second faster than last week's program record time, which moved him from 24th to 15th-best in the nation. The top 20 marks in each event make nationals.

It also marked the fourth straight meet Steger set a program record.

Foss Bests His Own Program Record
Junior Easton Foss (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) bettered his own program record in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:21.86 to finish fifth in the event. That was five seconds better than his previous program mark.

Boedigheimer Record PR in 800m
Sophomore Isaac Boedigheimer (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) posted a personal-best time in the 800m at 2:00.01.

Cerar in the Decathlon
On Wednesday, Cerar matched a season-best outdoor mark in the long jump at 19'9" (6.02m). He followed that with an outdoor personal-best in the shot put with a toss of 37'10.75" (11.55m). Cerar had 2,936 points after day one.

On Thursday, Cerar began by posting a personal-best time in the 110m hurdles at 16.34. He then placed third in the discus with a mark of 116'4" (35.47m). He would finish 13th in the decathlon with point total of 5,601 to conclude his collegiate career.
