Women’s Tennis Sweeps Crown

Box Score CHASKA, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team defeated Crown College 9-0 on Saturday in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action.
 
Doubles
The Saints dropped just two games total in doubles play. The No. 1 team of Sara Wennerstrand (Baxter, Minn. /Brainerd HS (Saint Benedict)) and Katelyn Rice (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) won 8-1. That was the same winning score for Brynne Hauer (Duluth, Minn. /Duluth East HS) and Maria Valentini (Hibbing, Minn. /Hibbing HS) at the No. 2 spot. The No. 3 tandem of Sydney Vyskocil (Ashland, Wis. /Ashland HS) and Julia Ellefson (Rochester, Minn. /John Marshall HS) did not give up a game, winning 8-0.
 
Singles
Wennerstrand at No. 1, Rice at No. 2, Vyskocil at No. 5 and Ellefson at No. 6 all did not drop a game, winning their matches 6-0, 6-0.
 
B. Hauer won 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot and Valentini won 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 4 position.

With Sunday's match at the University of Minnesota Morris being postponed, the Saints (11-5, 3-0 UMAC) will next be in action next Saturday against Martin Luther College in Virginia, Minnesota.
