DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's track & field team remained in Duluth on Saturday to compete at the Bulldog Open, hosted by the University of Minnesota Duluth at Malosky Stadium.
 
Steger Sets Record
Sophomore Ryan Steger (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) continued his strong outdoor season by setting a program record in the 400m dash with a time of 50.31 to place runner-up in the event. The previous record stood since 2009 and he broke it by nearly three-tenths of a second.
 
Other Top Performances
Michael Petron (Royalton, Minn./Royalton HS) placed third in the 100m dash with a season-best time of 11.37. Petron was also seventh in the 200m dash with a season-best time of 23.19. Finigan Huffington (Georgetown, Cayman Islands/John Gray HS) was 10^th in the 200m dash, posting a season-best time of 23.40.
 
Joe Guimond (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) was runner-up in the javelin with a throw of 135'2" (41.19m).
 
Nick Carlson (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS) was fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 41'8.5" (12.71m). Frank Cerar (Plainview, Minn./Plainview-Elgin-Millville HS) was fifth in that event with a mark of 37'4.5" (11.39m).
 
Carlson was also fifth in the long jump with a leap of 20'2.25" (6.15m). Donovan Blatz (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) was sixth with a mark of 19'10.75" (6.06m).
 
Carson Passer (McGregor, Minn./McGregor HS) was fifth in the high jump, clearing 5'7" (1.70m). Huffington also cleared that height, but took more jumps throughout the event to place sixth.
 
Jake Bonasera (Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS) was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 36'4.75" (11.09m). Bonasera was also eighth in the discus throw, which took place Friday, with a personal-best mark of 108'4" (33.03m).
 
Teddy Widmer (Bend, Ore./Bend HS) placed sixth in the 400m dash finishing in a season-best time of 52.45. Isaac Boedigheimer (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) was ninth in the 800m run with a time of 2:03.30.
 
Hunter Skluzacek (Saginaw, Minn./South Ridge HS) was seventh in the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 132'9" (40.46m).
