csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's track & field team was in the Green Bay area Thursday night for the St. Norbert College (Wis.) Twilight.
Steger and Foss Win
Ryan Steger (Eagan, Minn./Eagan HS) won the 800m run with a personal-best time of 1:55.47. He defeated the rest of the field by eight seconds. Steger is only 1.5 seconds off one of the oldest program records still standing, set in 2008. That time also currently ranks fourth in the Central Region.
Easton Foss (Pine City, Minn./Pine City HS) won the 5000m run by 18 seconds, posting a time of 15:33.67.
Other Top Performances
Isaac Boedigheimer (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS) was third in the 5000m run with a time of 16:08.20.
Nick Carlson (Canyon, Minn./South Ridge HS) placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 20'1.5" (6.13m). Carlson was also fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 39'4.5" (12.00m).
Hunter Skluzacek (Saginaw, Minn./South Ridge HS) was fourth in the hammer throw with a personal-best toss of 130'0" (39.63m).
Jake Bonasera (Princeton, Minn./Princeton HS) was seventh with a mark of 120'8" (36.79m).
Joe Guimond (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee HS) was seventh in the javelin with a throw of 125'4" (38.21m).
Teddy Widmer (Bend, Ore./Bend HS) was eighth in the 400m dash with a time of 54.92.
Cerar in La Crosse
Frank Cerar (Plainview, Minn./Plainview-Elgin-Millville HS) is competing in the Decathlon at the Phil Esten Challenge, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse over the next two days.
In his first five events on Thursday, Cerar began by posting his best 100m dash time since 2007 at 11.97 seconds. He later took the shot put event title with a mark of 35'9.5" (10.91m). In his next event, he cleared a season-best height in the high jump at 5'8.5" (1.74m) to place sixth. He finished the day by running a season-best time in the 400m dash at 55.35 to finish sixth again. After five events, he is seventh out of 15 competitors with 2,939 points.
Cerar completes the decathlon tomorrow with the final five events beginning at 10 a.m.

The Saints will stay in Duluth next Saturday to compete at the Bulldog Open, hosted by the University of Minnesota Duluth. Action is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
