VIRGINIA, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team took care of Martin Luther College 9-0 Saturday afternoon in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action.
Doubles
Serhii Tykhonenko (Kiev, Ukraine/Lyceum #100 "Podil") and
Rafa Gonzalez (La Libertad, El Salvador/FESA) defeated their competitors 8-1 as the No. 1 team. The No. 3 team of
Jack Kearney (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) and
Duke Nguyen (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy and Summit School) play equally as well, winning by the same score.
Anton Sopin (Saratov, Russia/Gymnasium #8 (Tabor College)) and
Jake Jolowsky (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS), No. 2 team, follow closely behind with an 8-2 victory.
Singles
All the Saints played dynamic games, winning all six matches. Tykhonenko (No. 1), Kearney (No. 4), and
Connor Croft (Virginia, Minn./Virginia HS) (No. 6) each won by 6-1 and 6-0 games. Gonzalez (No. 2) also didn't leave room for slack with his score of 6-0, 6-2. Sopin (No. 3) and Jolowsky (No. 5) rounded out the men's victories with 6-0, 6-4 wins each.
